How do I setup Outlook to retrieve mail from my POP account?

This is a step by step guide to help you setup your Outlook Express mail client to retrieve your mail from your Megaton pop account for your domain.
1.  Open Outlook Express and select Tools/ Accounts from the menu bar.  This should pop up another Window. step1.jpg (10595 bytes)

 
2.  Make sure you are on the mail tab and select Add/Mail. This should open another window. step2.jpg (6812 bytes)

 
3.  Next you will be prompted to enter the name you would like to appear in the from area of the message.

 
4.  After entering your name you will be prompted for an E-mail address.  This is the address that any reply will be sent to.

 
5.  You will now be prompted to fill in your POP and SMTP server(we do not offer SMTP service, you will need to use your ISP mail server) step3.jpg (12265 bytes)

 
6.  Next you will prompted for the username and password for the account.  These will be what you entered in your console.  For instance if you made the pop account user@mydomain.com, the username would be user, and the password would be whatever you have sepcified in the password field. step4.jpg (9042 bytes)

 
7.  Next you will be prompted for a name you can remember the account by.  This is what the account will show up as if you were to select Tools/Accounts.

 
8.  You will now be asked how you would like to check this mail account.  Most people will choose a dial up connection, or I will establish my connection manually.

 
9.  Next click finish and your mail account setup is complete.   To check you account you would select Send and Receive from the main Outlook Express Screen.


How can I verify that my mail is getting deleted from the server?
1.  Open Outlook Express and select Tools/ Accounts from the menu bar.  This should pop up another Window step1.jpg (10595 bytes)
2.  Select Properties step5.jpg (4052 bytes)
3.  Select the Advanced TAB.  And make sure the Delivery portion is UNCHECKED. If the box IS checked then the message will stay on the server and count against your storage space. step6.jpg (7257 bytes)

How do I send mail through my ISP and have it appear as if it was sent from my domain?
1.   Open Outlook Express and select Tools/ Accounts from the menu bar.  This should pop up another Window.

2.  Then select the account you wish to modify and select propertires.

3.  Then fill out the information for, Name, Organization, E-mail address, and Reply address, and click Apply. step7.jpg (11969 bytes)
Now any mail sent through your ISP will be from YOUR NAME, and when they reply to your meesage it will be sent to YOU@YOURDOMAIN.COM
